Short-term disability insurance is an excellent program for pregnant women. It covers the mother of a normal birth to help establish a paid maternity leave, when the mother stays at home baby bonding without worrying so much about how to pay all the bills. It also covers the leaves due to pregnancy complications.

In this article we will examine the relevance of disability in the language, because it relates to pregnancy and motherhood.
Definition recurrent inability  describes situations in which a person is temporarily disabled to work and off again shortly after the same or a related dementia. This can happen if your doctor orders you to take bed rest early in her pregnancy and then allowed to return to work before the birth. If this happens, you need to know how this is a recurring disability.
A recurrent disability will be treated as a new or continuing. If classified as new, will meet a new waiting period, but reset the clock on your claim. If classified as a continuation, the poles are reversed: there are no new waiting period, but eat at his previous period of disability benefits. You may have a political discourse as “a recurrent disability is considered as a continuation of the previous disability, not a new disability, if you returned to work for less than six months.” Consider two examples to clarify how it works.

Suppose you have a policy with a two-week period of elimination, a benefit of $ 3,000 per month, and a waiting period of 12 months. In both examples we look at the disability pregnancy bed rest the last two months because of complications, followed by a cesarean delivery. The most important difference is the time.

Gestational period and the elimination of a scenario of zero, the doctor orders bed rest complications at the end of a month of pregnancy and return to work after three months. Scenario, the two quit their jobs after six months return to work eight months.

In both cases, you can create a couple of days last month, nine via c-section, which entitles you to eight weeks of maternity benefit – removing less season. One scenario, the first leave expired more than six months before birth. You have two weeks during the removal must be invoked only once or twice. Your maternity leave benefits would be reduced from six weeks – or $ 4,168. On the positive side, you should continue to be above the ten months of income protection in case of failure to prevent a return to work. gestational period with the benefit of zero.
In scenario two the gap is under six months. This will be treated as a continuation, and your maternity leave benefit will be higher: a net of eight weeks of benefit – or $5,581. On the down side, should postpartum disorders keep you out of work longer, your remaining benefit period will have shrunk to eight months.
